Below are a few tips for buying in real estate.
· Use an experienced realtor. Many times buyers avoid using the services of a realtor under the mistaken belief that it costs them money - or that they will be able to negotiate a better deal directly with the seller or seller's agent. This can be an expensive mistake.
· Find out who is working for YOU. Many times buyers do not fully understand agency relationships and in turn may end up in a situation with little or no representation.
· Research what the home is worth. Find out before you make an offer what other homes in area have sold for and what other active listings there are. You and your realtor can then make an informed decision on how much to make an offer for.
· Recognize different negotiating skills. Offering a low price does not always mean that you will end up with the best sale price. Let your realtor guide you through the different steps of negotiating to get the best price and terms of sale for you.
· Know your rights and obligations in the Contract of Purchase and Sale. Ask your realtor as many questions as you need to ensure that you fully understand what you need to know about the Contract of Purchase and Sale before you sign.
· Stay Level Headed. Buying a home can be an exciting and stressful time. Don't let your emotions get the better of you. Your realtor can offer an experienced outside opinion on what is happening.
· Take the steps to get financially pre-approved. This will save time and energy once you find the perfect house and allow you to know exactly what you are able to shop for.
